The framework of Confucian edification thought can be generalized as"education based on human nature,"with its edification theory established on the basis of human nature.The educator establishes and carries out the work of education according to the inherent destiny of each person.Human nature has at least three levels of significance in Confucian edification thought:firstly,human nature contains the purpose of life mandated by heaven,that is,to achieve filial piety and fraternal virtues;secondly,the form of human nature on the experience level will gradually manifest itself and be actualized with the advancement of education;and thirdly,human nature at any moment has a tendency towards the ultimate best,so the essence of edification is to guide the individual according to their nature.Confucianism does not base the father-son relationship on personal affection or blood relationship,but regards it as human nature with transcendent and universal significance.Hence,Confucian edification can take the father-son relationship as the basis to extent filial piety to others and even to all the things in the world.Its rationality is that the father-son relationship combines the relationship between heaven and human,and all ethical relations can only be understood from the perspective of the relationship between heaven and man.In short,human nature is the foundation of edification and edification is the realization of human nature.They enhance each other.
