Physiological Response of Cucumber Seedlings Under Different Light Intensity
In order to investigate the physiological response of cucumber seedlings, seedlings of Cucumber Jinchun No. 4 were cultivated at different light intensities for 6 days when the second leaves were fully expanded. Samples of the second leaves were used to determine the activities of antioxidants such as ascorbate peroxidase (APX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), guaiacol peroxidase (GPX), glutathione reductase (GR) and assay the cntents of malondialdehyde (MDA), H2O2 and superoxide anion formation rate (O2.). The results revealed that low light significantly increased antioxidant activities of cucumber leaves such as APX, SOD, GPX and GR, cntents of MDA, H2O2 and superoxide anion formation rate and reduced the activity of CAT.
