At least 63 Western Zhou tombs at the Yejiashan cemetery in Suizhou of Hubei Province contain lacquerware or lacquerware fragments. The shape and form,as well as decorative patterns, are recognizable for many of them.Through scientific excavation and surveys, vessels were identified,in-cluding plates, dou, jin,gu(and stick-shaped vessels),cups, shields, bows, and bronze-lacquer-painted wooden jars. The lacquerware unearthed from the Yejiashan tomb site is one of the most significant dis-coveries of Western Zhou lacquerware in recent years, which offers important material for studying the shape and form, function, and use of lacquerware during the Western Zhou period.
