Compared with the pottery popular in the Chu region from the Eastern Zhou to the Han dynasty, pottery such as zun-fou(wine vessel),two-handled guan with cord patterns, and deep-bellied cups that appeared in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River during the Warring States and Qin-Han periods should all be considered as Chu-style pottery. The pottery zun-fou,as an imitation of the ritual bronze object, was already popular in the Chengdu Plain during the Warring States period. The appear-ance of zun-fou in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River should have resulted from the influence of the Chengdu Plain culture. The two-handled guan with cord patterns and deep-bellied cups,as common pottery with lower value and being fragile and hard to transport, were often found near their production sites. These potteries were likely manufactured by people familiar with the production of Chu-style pot-tery in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River, possibly suggesting the migration of Chu people into the region during the Qin and Han periods.
