In February 2020,the Institute of Cultural Heritage Conservation and other units con-ducted a trial excavation at the Paleolithic Lianzhuang site in Tanghe County of Henan Province. The excavation area was 4 m by 4 m.A total of 30 stone tools and one ivory bone were collected. The stone tools consist of cores, complete flakes, fragments, and secondary and tertiary tools.Based on the strati-graphic deposits, the combination of stone tools, and comparisons with surrounding Paleolithic sites,it is inferred that the geological age of this Paleolithic site is from the Middle Pleistocene, thus identifying the site as a Lower Paleolithic site.
