A bronze drum stand was unearthed from the Spring and Autumn period tomb at Jiulidun in Shucheng of Anhui Province.Based on the vessel's shape and form, decorative patterns, burial time, and the tomb owner's life,we suggest it was likely made around 490 BC.The Marquis Cai's ge-dagger unearthed from the Jiulidun tomb corresponds to the inscription on the drum stand, indicating a close re-lationship between the burial time and the era of Duke Yu of Zhongli's life. The burial rank also matches that of the lord of Zhongli, and the tomb orientation and placement of burial goods align with those of other tombs like Shuangdun M1 and Bianzhuang M1.The close connection of the bronze artifacts with those from Shuangdun M1 and Bianzhuang M1 suggests that this tomb is most likely the tomb of a lord of Zhongli, possibly Duke Yu of Zhongli. The inscriptions on the drum stand can be matched with his-torical records and provide additional evidence for the strategic actions of the Chu state against Wu after King Zhao restored the state.
