A single-layer lobed-decorated bronze Yi,gilt with silver and gold, was unearthed from the Western Han Tomb M10 at Yaotaizi,Jingzhou city, dating back to the 3rd century BC.This discov-ery expands the application of lobed decoration to different vessel shapes and types, demonstrating a high level of technological skills. It is made from lead-tin bronze, cast without forging treatment. The vessel's exterior and interior walls were gilt, first with gold and then silver, implying that it imitates sil-verware.The crafting technique and lead resource of this bronze Yi may have their origins in the Central Plains, indicating that the imported lobed decorating theme was adopted in the region no later than the Qin Dynasty. This has significant implications for understanding the evolution of lobed decorations and metal vessel decoration themes in the Warring States and Qin-Han periods.
