Bronze du-container was popular during the Spring and Autumn period,and they are dis-tributed in provinces such as Shaanxi,Shanxi,Shandong,Henan,and Hubei.Bronze du with vertical holes were mainly discovered in Shaanxi and Shanxi,while those with chain-link handles were mainly in Shandong.Bronze du was mostly buried in large-and medium-sized tombs,with three bronze ritual ding-cauldrons or more,and was used by both men and women.Bronze du was separated from ritual and musical objects in tombs and adjacent to special wares such as guan-jar and lion-case.Residue anal-ysis suggests that it was used as a cosmetic container.The advent and popularity of bronze du manifest-ed the secularization of bronze wares in the Spring and Autumn period.
