The large-mouthed,drooping-belly ceramic fu-cauldrons with cord patterns found in the Xiajiang region are primarily distributed in Fuling,Zhong County,Wanzhou, and Fengdu. They ap-peared during the Eastern Jin period and became popular in the Southern Dynasties. These ceramic fu-cauldrons originated in the Zhenning and Zhenfeng in Guizhou during the Wei and Jin periods and even further back to the Lingnan region in the late Eastern Han period.Their advent might have been due to the westward migration of people from the western part of Lingnan into the Zangke area during the late Eastern Han period, who later formed the Zangke Liao and moved into Shu during the Eastern Jin period.
