This article briefly outlines the research methods for tracing the sources of modern nephrite jade,discusses the applicability of modem source tracing methods for studying pre-Qin jade ore sources,analyzes the challenges in current research on pre-Qin jade ore sources,and finally puts for-ward thoughts and insights on research methods for pre-Qin ore sources.One approach to address the is-sue of pre-Qin jade ore sources is to fully utilize the mineral source characteristics carried by unearthed jade artifacts.Another approach involves interdisciplinary research using methods from geology,ar-chaeology,jadeology,geochemistry,and other fields when there is a lack of discovery at ancient mining sites.
