In 2002,the Chengdu Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted surveys and excavations at the"Jinyu"locality of the Jinsha site, uncovering numerous ash pits, burials, and kilns,as well as one gravel deposit and one red-burnt clay deposit.Ash pit H603 yielded a large number of artifacts, primarily pottery, including pointed-bottom zhan-cups,guan-jars,high-necked ums,fu-cauldrons,gui-shaped vessels,pen-basins,and spindle whorls. These artifacts have previously been found at sites such as the Xinyicun site, dating to the mid to late Western Zhou period to the mid to late Spring and Autumn period in the Chengdu Plain. In terms of cultural characteristics, temporal features, and distribution, these artifacts show significant differences from the Shierqiao culture, suggesting that they may warrant a distinct designation as"Xinyicun culture."
