Analysis of carbonized plant remains from the 2014 to 2016 excavation zones at the Taijiasi site in Funan of Anhui Province indicates that agriculture was the primary subsistence strategy adopted by the early inhabitants, with wild plant resources growing around the settlement likely being consumed as supplementary foods.Quantitative analysis reveals that rice was the dominant crop, supplemented by foxtail millet, with smaller amounts of broomcorn millet and wheat.Regional studies based on the Taijiasi site show that the middle Huaihe River region continued the agricultural practice of cultivating both rice and millet during the Shang Dynasty.
