Brief Report on Excavation of Wangjiazhou Cemetery in Dangyang of Hubei
In November 2022,the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology,in conjunction with Dangdyang Museum conducted an excavation on the Wangjiazhou Cemetery in Dan-gyang.A total of 7 tombs of the early Eastern Han Dynasty were cleared up.The tomb structure is clear, all of which are single-and-brick chambered tombs in rectangular and vertical earth pits with strong lo-cal characteristics. It is particularly important to discover two tombs sealed with hollow brick doors, one of which has multiple portrait bricks. The excavation of these tombs provides important materials for studying the brick tombs and funeral customs of the Eastern Han Dynasty in Dangyang and even the Juzhang River Basin.
