Brief Report of Excavation of the Song Tomb at Beiliwan in Huangpi District,Wuhan
In December 2008,the Wuhan Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology,a-long with other institutions,conducted a rescue excavation of a boat-shaped double-chamber brick tomb discovered at Beiliwan in Huangpi District of Wuhan City.The tomb yielded 37 burial artifacts of porcelain,pottery,silver,bronze,and iron.Based on the tomb's structure and the artifacts uncovered,it is dated to the Northern Song Dynasty.The excavation of this tomb provides important physical evi-dence for studying the social structure,economic life,and cultural exchanges in the Wuhan region dur-ing the Northern Song period.
