Abstract
The Huangfenzui cemetery in Zunyi represents the earliest confirmed burial site of the Yang family, hereditary chieftains(Tusi)of the Bozhou region.During the 2017 excavation conducted by the Guizhou Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and other institutions, the epi-taph recovered from Tomb M3 identified it as the joint burial site of Yang Jiong, the 22nd-generation Yang family chieftain, and his wife,Lady Tian. The tomb is a joint burial with separate chambers under a single mound, constructed with massive stone slabs. Both chambers feature similar layouts, each con-sisting of front and rear rooms forming a T-shaped stone structure. The tomb entrance, wall niches, rear walls, and caisson ceilings are richly decorated with intricate carvings.Additionally, the tomb yielded a variety of vividly crafted pottery figurines. The discovery and identification of Yang Jiong's tomb have significantly enhanced our understanding of the burial sequence of the Yang family chieftains in Bozhou.
