Application of CFD in the selection and design of large submersible axial-flow pump systems
To analyze the internal flow patterns and hydraulic characteristics of the impeller under different operating conditions and to predict the overall hydraulic performance of the pump system,a study was conducted on the large axial-flow pump system of the Dazha River flood discharge pump station. A comprehensive hydraulic model was established for the pump system, including the inlet flow passage, pump section (impeller and guide vane),and outlet flow passage. CFD numerical simulations were carried out using the SST k-ω turbulence model. The results indicated that within the design operating range, the flow inside the pump device was smooth, the flow pattern was stable, the pressure distribution was uniform, and the overall hydraulic performance was good. The hydraulic model and pump parameters met the pump station design requirements, and the research method could serve as a reference for pump selection and design in pump station engineering.
