The Imagination of"Prosperity":Realistic Concerns of Jinling's Literary Gatherings during Emperor Tongzhi's Reign in Qing Dynasty
During Emperor Tongzhi's reign in Qing Dynasty,there were various literary gatherings in Jinling City.They inherited the prewar literary pursuits tradition,which became an important way to restore and rebuild lo-cal culture and imagine a prosperous era.In addition to expressing the joy of poetry and wine,the poetry of the literary gatherings was also concerned with reality,imagined and expected"prosperity"to express the general desire and political stance for restoring a peaceful and prosperous era.This ideological and emotional group i-dentity played an important role in promoting the recovery of the postwar Jiangnan region.Through poetry and wine,the literary gatherings expressed the joy of prosperity and reduced the cruelty of war to promote a more harmonious and peaceful social atmoshpere.But with the passing of Zeng Guofan,literati scattered throughout the country and the fleeting imagination of"prosperity"came to an end.
