When"Thought"Meets"Literature":The Role of Literature in the Dissemination of Thoughts during the May Fourth Movement
"Literature and Enlightenment"has been a hot topic in the Chinese academic community since the May Fourth Movement.From the existing research results,the academic community has not yet fully paid attention to the negative impact of literary enlightenment on the dissemination of thoughts.Enlightenment through literature often appeals to emotions and images,infecting people's hearts by creating a narrative atmosphere,while ideological enlightenment should appeal to reason and logic,training people's thinking through the power of logic.If we want to present the complexity of the relationship between literature and enlightenment,we must disregard the fact that literature intervenes in ideological enlightenment and undertakes the dissemination of thoughts.Not only do thoughts squeeze the artistic and autonomous nature of literature,but the appeal to sensibility and imagery in literary enlightenment also leads to the loss of ideological autonomy.Only by clarifying this issue can we objectively evaluate the role of literature in disseminating ideas.
