As a longstanding decorative pattern,fish patterns in Ming and Qing Dynasty embroidery are distinctive for their rich shapes and auspicious meanings.Analyzing the artistic representation and cultural connotations of fish patterns has profound significance for inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese decorative arts.This article employs literature research and pattern analysis methods to analyze the fish pattern's form,shape,and color characteristics of fish patterns in tapestry and embroidery.The study explores their artistic characteristics and the cultural connotations behind them.The research shows that fish patterns on Ming and Qing Dynasty embroidery have artistic characteristics such as rich thematic meanings,dynamic shapes,bright colors,and exquisite craftsmanship.They interpret the ancient Chinese fertility worship,the prosperous auspicious culture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the transcendent"fish joy"philosophy beyond secular life.
