Study on the Artistic Features of Sanduo Patterns in Qing Dynasty Costumes
Sanduo pattern was a popular auspicious pattern during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Through the analysis of actual collections and literary materials,it was found that the theme combinations of sanduo patterns in Qing Dynasty costumes include with flora and fauna motifs,symbolic motifs,and natural meteorological motifs.The layout features are made with the hems and edges of the costumes,following the design rules of freestanding,balanced,concentric and shared forms.The study shows that the shape,color and craftsmanship of sanduo patterns can carry rich cultural connotations,convey expectations for future generations,reflect peoples emphasis on family inheritance and bloodline continuation,and express the pursuit of happiness,longevity,and family prosperity.
