Expression and clinical significance of miR-654-5p and ATM protein in esophageal carcinoma
Objective To investigate the expression of miR-654-5p and ataxic telangiectasia mutant protein ATM in esophageal car-cinoma tissues and normal squamous epithelium adjacent to carcinoma, and to explore their roles and correlation in the development of esophageal carcinoma.Method Fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-654-5p in 186 cases of esopha-geal cancer and adjacent normal esophageal mucosa.Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of ATM protein in 186 cases of esophageal carcinoma and adjacent normal esophageal mucosa. Results By analyzing the clinicopathologic features of 186 patients with esophageal cancer,it was found that the high expression rate of miR-654-5p increased with the decrease of differentia-tion and the deepening of infiltration depth; The positive expression rate of ATM protein decreased with the decrease of differentiation degree and the deepening of infiltration depth. There was no correlation between the expression of both of them in esophageal cancer and gender, age, mass size and mass site(P>0.05).Conclusion The expression of miR-654-5p and ATM protein was related to the differentiation degree and infiltration depth of esophageal cancer(P<0.05),and the expression trend of miR-654-5p and ATM protein in esophageal cancer was opposite, the difference was statistically significant(P=0.014),indicating that the two proteins played certain role in the occurrence and development of esophageal cancer, and may jointly act on the occurrence of esophageal cancer.
