Effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with conventional rehabilitation on postop-erative patients with brachial plexus injury
Objective To observe the effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)combined with conventional re-habilitation on postoperative patients with brachial plexus injury(BPI).Method 60 postoperative patients with BPI in rehabilitation medicine department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University were selected as research object and randomly di-vided into control group(n=30)and observation group(n=30).The control group was given conventional rehabilitation encombined with sham rTMS,and the observation group was given conventional rehabilitation combined with rTMS of the M1 brain area, the course of treatment was 3 months. Before and after treatment, all the patients underwent visual analogue scale(VAS)、manual muscle test(MMT)and shoulder active range of motion(ROM).Results Finally,29 patients were included in the observation group and 28 pa-tients were included in the control group. Before treatment, there were no significant difference in general condition, pain degree,mus-cle strength, and shoulder active ROM between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months of treatment, the evaluations of all patients were significantly improved(P<0.05).Among them, the VAS of the observation group was significantly lower than control group(P<0.05);what's more, compared with the control group, the active range of flexion, extension, and abduction of the shoulder in the ob-servation group was significantly improved(P<0.05);while the recovery of muscle strength of the two groups was similar(P>0.05).Conclusion Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with conventional rehabilitation therapy can effectively improve the ROM of the shoulder, and relieve pain in postoperative patients with BPI.
