Application effect of continuous nursing combined with the theoretical model of empowerment in elderly pa-tients with secondary epilepsy
Objective To explore the effect of continuous nursing combined with the theoretical model of empowerment in elderly patients with secondary epilepsy.Method A total of 82 elderly patients with secondary epilepsy admitted to the hospital from October 2018 to July 2023 were selected as observation objects, and were divided into control group(41 cases, conventional nursing mode com-bined with the theoretical model of empowerment)and observation group(41 cases, conventional nursing mode, theoretical model of empowerment, continuous nursing)by random number table method. The scores of self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)before and after care were compared between the two groups, and the scores of comprehensive quality of life assessment questionnaire before and after care were compared between the two groups, and the frequency of attacks and complications were recorded between the two groups. Results The SAS scores and SDS scores were(38.62±6.23)points and(39.82±7.07)points in the observation group,and(42.01±7.37)points and(43.73±7.46)points in the control group, respectively, and the differences were statistically significant(P=0.027,P=0.017).After nursing, the quality of life scores of the observation group and the control group were(353±7.23)points and(350±6.10)points,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The number of at-tacks in the observation group was(1.00±1.03)lower than that in the control group(1.50±1.00),and the difference was statistical-ly significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in observation group(4.88%)was lower than that in control group(19.51%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Continuous nursing combined with the theoretical mode of enabling nursing can improve the quality of life of elderly patients with secondary epilepsy, reduce the number of seizures, and reduce the risk of complications(fall, asphyxia, cognitive impairment, memory impairment,etc.).
