Effects of low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field combined with exercise intervention on bone mineral density and quality of life in elderly patients with osteoporosis
Objective To analyze the effects of low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field combined with exercise intervention on bone mineral density and quality of life in elderly patients with osteoporosis.Method A total of 65 elderly patients with osteoporosis who received treatment in Jinqiu Hospital of Liaoning Province from March 2021 to March 2023 were selected and divided into two groups by random number method. Both groups were given basic anti-osteoporosis therapy, exercise group(n=32)was given exercise intervention, and instrument group(n=33)was given low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field therapy.Bone mineral density,qual-ity of life, laboratory indexes and adverse reactions in different parts of the two groups were compared. Results Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the BMD of the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the BMD of femoral Neck, triangular Ward and lumbar L2~L4 in both groups was higher than before treatment, and the BMD of lumbar L2~L4 in the instrument group was higher than that in the exercise group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in BMD of Neck and Ward between the two groups(P>0.05).After intervention, the scores of 8 dimensions in the SF-36 were higher in the two groups than before treatment, and the instrument group was higher than the exercise group(P<0.05);After intervention,OC,PINP and β-CTX in 2 groups were lower than before intervention, and the instrument group was lower than the exercise group(P<0.05);There was no significant differ-ence in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For elderly patients with osteoporosis,low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field combined with exercise intervention can effectively improve bone mineral density, improve bone metabolism indexes, and improve their quality of life, with good safety.
