Funding Supporting Trajectory and Discipline Development of Economic Geography Field Based on the National Natural Science Foundation of China after 2000
The research achievement of economic geography play an important role in serving the national strategy.It is an important responsibility of the National Natural Science Foundation Committee(NSFC)to support the construction of talent team,fund basic research and frontier exploration.This paper sorted out the application and funding of NSFC projects in the field of economic geography from 2000 to 2023,analyzed the talent team construction of economic geography,and summarized the changes of hot spots in economic geography research in different periods.The results showed that:1)NSFC received 4144 applications from 481 supporting institutions from 2000 to 2023,which belonged to the application code of economic geography,and funded 843 projects of 184 supporting institutions,covering 10 of 18 project types of NSFC,with an average funding rate of 20.34%.2)Compared with the branches of geography science,the aging problem of economic geography talent team structure was relatively prominent.3)The polarization phenomenon of regional research strength in the field of economic geography was obvious,and the gap between the construction of talent team in east China,south China and other regions with better economic development and less developed regions was expanding.4)There are differences in the hot issues in the field of economic geography in different periods.From 2000 to 2023,the main research objects shifted from globalization and transnational corporations,industrial agglomeration and spatial organization to innovation and global production network,which gave rise to the emergence of innovation geography,financial geography and other emerging fields.5)In the future,it should strengthen the construction from the aspects of cross-integration,strengthening discipline theory,condenzing major scientific problems,accelerating scientific and technological achievements,optimizing the structure of talents and balancing regional research forces in the field of economic geography.
