Comparative Study on the Coupling Coordination Between Digital Economy and New-type Urbanization in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and theYellow River Basin
Based on panel data from 19 provinces in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yellow River Basin from 2013 to 2021,this study employs methods including Entropy Weight TOPSIS,Coupling Coordination Degree Model,Dagum Gini Coefficient, and Convergence Model to comparatively analyze regional disparities and convergence of the coupling coordination between digital economy and new-type urbanization in the two major regions. The research findings are as follows:1)The coupling coordination of the two systems in both regions has transitioned from a state of disorganized development to one of coordinated development, with the Yangtze River Economic Belt exhibiting higher coupling coordination and faster growth rates, exerting a significant leading role.2)The regional disparities in the coupling coordination of the two systems between the two regions are gradually diminishing, and the development gap in the coupling coordination between regions is narrowing, with the coupling coordination of the two systems shifting from regional imbalance towards relative regional equilibrium. In the foreseeable future, the overall differences between the two regions will still be primarily driven by intra-regional disparities, while the impact of the cross-overlapping of intra-regional and inter-regional disparities on the overall differences in coupling coordination is diminishing.3)Significant σ convergence, absolute β convergence, and conditional β convergence characteristics are observed in the coupling coordination of the two systems in both regions, with the Yangtze River Economic Belt demonstrating a faster convergence speed while the Yellow River Basin exhibits a relatively slower convergence speed. The impact of technological innovation, industrial structure, environmental regulation, labor quality, and openness to the outside world on the convergence of coupling coordination in the two systems shows significant heterogeneity.Considering the different characteristics of coupling coordination development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yellow River Basin, this study provides differentiated enhancement paths for the two major regions.
