Mechanism and Social Effects of Transnational Gentrification in Large City of China:A Case Study of South Korean Enclaves in Guangzhou
Transnational gentrification is a social space reconstruction phenomenon caused by high-skilled transnational immigrants,emphasizing the interaction,succession and game between high-end transnational immigrants and low-income residents,it has strong class,social and political characteristics.Taking the South Korean enclaves in Guangzhou as the research area,this paper deeply analyzes the he development characteristics,formation mechanism and social effects of transnational gentrification.It's found that:1)the development of transnational gentrification has experienced four stages:germination stage,growth stage,development stage and persistence stage,each stage has significant changes in population composition,spatial form and capital source.2)Transnational gentrification is promoted by the complex collaborative mechanism formed by local governments,real estate developers,transnational gentrifiers and local residents,but local governments occupy an absolute dominant position.3)Transnational gentrification has brought about significant social spatial effects,such as class and ethnic succession,lifestyle change,cultural separation and social division,but its positive and negative results show the characteristics of pluralism and complexity.
