Spatial Effects of High-quality Tourism Development for Common Prosperity at the Provincial Level
This study constructs an evaluation index system for the common prosperity and the high-quality tourism development, and uses the entropy method and the spatial Durbin model to reveal the paths and spatial effects of high-quality tourism development to promote common prosperity based on the panel data of 30 provincial-level regions in China from 2007 to 2019.The results show that:1)The common prosperity index and the high-quality tourism development index of 30 provincial-level regions show an increasing trend year by year and the uneven distribution pattern which is high in the east of China and low in the west of China, and there is a significant spatial autocorrelation.2)High-quality tourism development contributes to common prosperity and exhibits spatial effects.Disregarding the spatial effects of geographic proximity factors,it leads to overestimatinges the local effects of high-quality tourism development on promoting common prosperity. When while neglecting the spatial effects of regional economic factors is ignored,it underestimates the effect of high-quality tourism development to promote common prosperity. The spatial spillover effect is greater than the local effect in promoting the common prosperity of high-quality tourism development.3)There is spatial heterogeneity in promoting common prosperity through high-quality tourism development. In the western region, both the local effect and spatial spillover effect are significantly positive. In the eastern region, the local effect is positive but the spatial spillover effect is negative. The central region primarily exhibits the local effect. The study results provide theoretical support for the promotion of common prosperity through high-quality tourism development, promote and deepen the research on the relationship between high-quality tourism development and common prosperity.
