Spatial Allocation Equality of Home-based Elderly Care Service Facilities in Urban and Rural Areas:A Case of Suzhou
The efficiency and equity of distribution of home-based elderly care service facility directly affect the life quality of the vast majority of the elderly, and have become the key factor influencing the effectiveness of system development of elderly care service facility in urban and rural areas.Taking Suzhou as a case study, this paper measures the spatial correlation of supply and demand between the effective allocation of home-based elderly care service facilities and the distribution of the elderly population, analyzes its equality between urban and rural areas, and explores the causes of inequality. The results indicate that:1)The spatial allocation of home-based elderly care service facilities in Suzhou is highly correlated with the urban spatial structure.High-allocation regions are concentrated in the central urban areas and the urban areas of various districts and counties, with facility allocations gradually decreasing from the central urban area towards the periphery.2)There exists a relative inequality in facility spatial allocation, with central villages in urban centers and rural areas receiving high allocations, while non-central villages in the periphery of urban areas and rural areas receive lower allocations.3)Inequality between urban and rural areas primarily arises from the internal imbalance in facility spatial allocation within rural areas. The mismatch between supply and demand in spatial terms results in a per capita effective facility allocation below that of urban areas.
