Based on the citrus production data in China at the prefecture level from 2006 to 2021,this paper explores the spatial evolution characteristics of Chinese citrus industry by the means of production concentration index and kernel density analysis, and further explores the influencing factors by using the geographic detector. The results show that:1)The Chinese citrus industry showed the Z-shaped spatial distribution characteristic. It mainly consisted of two higher density core areas which were Yichang in Hubei and Guilin in Guangxi, and medium and low density core areas such as Sichuan-Chongqing,the south of Jiangxi and Zhangzhou,as well as the core cluster areas radiated around the above density core areas.2)From 2006 to 2021,there was a spatial imbalance in the distribution of the citrus industry. The citrus industry in East China contracted fast, and the Southwest China failed to form a suitable condition for the development of the citrus industry, which led to a high degree of agglomeration of citrus industry in Central south China.3)The results of the factor detection shows that natural factors are the most critical factor of the spatial distribution of the Chinese citrus industry. The results of the interaction detection shows that the interaction between natural factors and other factors showed a decreasing trend, while the interaction between the other three factors showed an increasing trend, indicating that improving the supply of production factors, industrial support conditions and market demand is conducive to the spatial agglomeration of the citrus industry under appropriate natural resource conditions.
