Isolation and Identification of A Strain of Brucella of Deer Origin and Genetic Evolutionary Analysis
The sika deer is an important and valuable medicinal animal resoure in China, and its whole body has medicinal value and a wide range of uses to make it an important part of the big health industry. However, the prevalence of brucellosis has become one of the key challenges limiting the development of the sika deer industry. In this study,a Brucella strain was isolated from the aborted fetus of a doe of sika deer, which was identified by conventional and molecular typing methods, and the results indicated that the isolate was of Brucella melitensis bv.1.The MLVA-16 method was used to classify and genetically evolve the isolate, and the results showed that it was more closely related to the Mediterranean type, but there were still 4-5 loci different from other strains, which indicated that there might be genetic variation in this deer-derived Brucella isolate. This study provides a reference for clarifying the main prevalent strains of brucellosis in deer, and also provides new clues for uncovering the mechanism of cross-species transmission of Brucella.
