Research Progress on Role of Estrogen and Progesterone in Development of Canine Pyometra
Canine pyometra is a high-incidence reproductive system disease in middle-aged to older bitches.At present,the pathogenesis of canine pyometra is not completely understood.Studies have shown that the imbalance of reproductive hormones affects the function of uterine epithelium,which faliciates the bacterial adherence,colonization and growth,and plays important roles in the pathogenesis of pyometra.In present review,the roles of estrogen,progesterone,and their receptors in the process of canine pyogenesis are summarized,which could provide a reference for further research on canine pyometra.
