Progress of Oocyte Collection Techniques in Sika Deer(Cervus nippon)and Red Deer(Cervus elaphus,Wapiti)
The oocytes of sika deer and red deer are mainly harvested during the breeding season, which is an important period for female deer breeding. Therefore, the oocyte collection from sika deer and red deer should also take into account the propagation of female deer. The commonly used methods for oocyte retrieval include surgical egg retrieval,non-surgical oocyte retrieval, and ex vivo ovarian oocyte retrieval.Surgical oocyte retrieval can be divided into surgical suction, surgical flushing, and laparoscopic egg retrieval(L-OPU).Non surgical oocyte retrieval refers to the live oocyte retrieval method(B-OPU)mediated by ultrasound, which involves grasping the ovaries through the rectum and puncturing the vaginal wall to extract oocytes from the ovaries. In this paper, the oocyte collection techniques of sika deer and red deer were reviewed and analyzed, which can provide reference for the reasonable recovery of deer oocyte.
