Velvet antler is the young antler of a male deer that produces dense fur before ossification,and has a unique growth mechanism of rapid growth without carcinogenesis.Therefore,velvet antler is an ideal anti-tumor model.Currently,an increasing number of studies have shown that velvet antler contains a large number of bioactive substances,and velvet antler and its derived products have also made certain progress in anti-tumor treatment.This article reviews the basic research and clinical application of velvet antler in anti-tumor research in recent years.We have summarized the research progress of velvet antler extract,derived cells,and formulations in the field of anti-tumor to provide theoretical basis for the in-depth development and utilization of velvet antler,and ideas for innovative tumor treatment strategies.
