Research on the Influence of Outward Foreign Direct Investment on China's Regional Economic Resilience
Outward foreign direct investment(OFDI)is an important factor affecting China's regional economic resilience.Based on the provincial panel data from 2005 to 2019,this paper uses the non-spatial panel model,spa-tial panel model and mediating effect model to empirically analyze the impact and acting mechanism of OFDI on Chi-na's regional economic resilience. The study shows that:OFDI has generally promoted China's regional econom-ic resilience, and this conclusion still holds after a series of robustness tests;OFDI has spillover effect on the eco-nomic resilience of neighboring regions;the intermediary mechanism test finds that OFDI can indirectly promote Chinese regional economic resilience through human capital and technological innovation mechanism. The spatial heterogeneity analysis shows that OFDI promotes the economic resilience in the eastern and Midwestern regions, and promotes the economic resilience in the eastern regions higher than that in the Midwestern regions;the time het-erogeneity analysis shows that OFDI suppresses the regional economic resilience before the resistance phase of the financial crisis, but it can promote it during the crisis recovery and transition period.
