Research on the Impact of Social Network Embedding on the Organizational Toughness of New Ventures in the VUCA Context
Organizational toughness is the key element of the subsisting capacity of new ventures in the VUCA context.The use of social network resources to improve organizational toughness has become an important means for the new ventures in the VUCA era to deal with environmental shocks.In order to open up the"black box"of the relationship between the social network embedding and the organizational toughness of new ventures,this paper di-vides the social network embedding into the two dimensions of the relationship embedding and structural embed-ding,thereby building a process model of social network embedding energizing the organizational toughness of new ventures.An analysis of the questionnaire data of 341 new venture management personnel finds that the social net-work embedding has a positive affect on organizational toughness,the absorption ability plays a part of the intermedi-ary role in the above relationship,and environmental dynamicity has a positive regulation of the intensity of the inter-mediary effect in the middle of the absorption ability while positively regulating the relationship of the two.The con-clusion has broaden the theory of the organizational toughness from the perspective of the network embedding,and also provides experience guidance for new ventures turning crisis into opportunities.
