Mobile Payment and Family Tourism Consumption Inequality
Based on the data of 2017 China Household Finance Survey(CHFS2017),this paper empirically tests the relationship and action mechanism of mobile payment and family tourism consumption inequality using an endogenous transformation model. The research results show that the use of mobile payment significantly reduces the inequality of family tourism consumption.Based on the counter-factual assumptions, families that do not actual-ly use mobile payment,if choosing to use mobile payment, will have a 2.7%decrease of the inequality level of fami-ly tourism consumption. After replacing the explained variables, the estimation results are still robust.A heterogene-ity analysis finds that the alleviating effect of mobile payment on tourism consumption inequality of areas with high tourist-resource endowment and middle-income families is more obvious.A mechanism analysis shows that mobile payment alleviates the inequality of family tourism consumption mainly by improving family credit ability and family income. The study proposes that local governments focus on reducing the transaction costs of family tourism con-sumption,continuously enrich the supply forms of tourist products, and optimize the policy measures to improve resi-dents'tourism consumption.
