A realistic review of the role of peasant cooperatives——Based on the investigation and analysis of 566 farmers in X County
What role do farmers'cooperatives play in the current practice of rural revitalization?Through the empirical research of 566 farmers in X County in central China, and in the dialogue with the mainstream view of to-day's academic circles, the paper tries to answer this realistic question. The study found that farmers'cooperatives in the county had a relatively limited impact on local rural society and mainly played a political function, that is,a political response to the central government's major policies, rather than the result of farmers'spontaneous collec-tive action to protect their economic interests.According to the study, when we promote agricultural and rural re-form,we should conform to the actual needs of local farmers and the basic laws of market economy at that time,so as to achieve effective results.
