Based on the sample data of 6971 farmer households among the Chinese labor force dynamic survey data in 2018,this paper analyzes the impact of non-agricultural employment on farmland abandonment from the per-spective of family life cycle and agricultural socialized services.The results show that:Overall,non-agricultural em-ployment has exacerbated the abandonment of arable land;there are significant differences in the impact of non-ag-ricultural employment on farmland abandonment at different stages of the family life cycle-for farmer households in the starting,nurturing,and empty nest periods,the impact of non-agricultural employment on farmland abandon-ment is not significant,while for farmer households in the burden,stability,and support periods,non-agricultural employment significantly exacerbates farmland abandonment;agricultural socialized services can reduce the aban-donment of arable land caused by non-agricultural employment,but the role played by socialized services in differ-ent stages varies.In order to reduce the phenomenon of farmland abandonment caused by non-agricultural employ-ment,it is necessary to appropriately increase agricultural operating income,promote land control in the hands of farmers with farming ability,and vigorously develop agricultural socialized services.
