Research on the Population Development Pattern of Urban Agglomerations from the Perspective of Chinese-style Modernization
High-quality population development is the cornerstone of Chinese-style modernization, and urban agglomerations are the core and pioneer areas of Chinese-style modernization. This paper first analyses the scope and connotation of high-quality population development in urban agglomerations and the relationship between popu-lation and development of urban agglomerations from the perspective of Chinese-style modernization, and then stud-ies and judges the situation of population development in major urban agglomerations in China. The study finds that,in terms of population size, the resident population in China's major urban agglomerations has a great disparity in size, with the population size of the eastern urban agglomerations being larger than that of the central and western ur-ban agglomerations as a whole. In terms of population quality, the educational level of the population in urban ag-glomerations as a whole has increased, but there is a large difference between different urban agglomerations, and the educational level of males is generally higher than that of females. In terms of population structure, the ageing process is accelerating in urban agglomerations, and the degree of ageing varies between urban agglomerations. In terms of spatial distribution, the spatial pattern of urban population within urban agglomerations is very uneven, with the highest degree of unevenness in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomerations. Finally, policy implica-tions for promoting high-quality population and economic development in urban agglomerations are put forward in terms of population size, quality, structure and spatial distribution.
