Seed character variation and offspring seedling growth performance in Ulmus macrocarpa superior trees
In order to breed excellent genetic resources in Ulmus macrocarpa, taking seeds in different U. macrocarpasuperior trees and their one-year-old sowing seedlings as materials, seed character variation and offspring seedling growth performance were researched. The results showed that width, mass and germination ability of the seeds existed variations among different superior trees, and ground diameter growth of offspring seedling had variations. The characters could be used to re-selecting among the primary selection superior trees. The No. 4 superior tree had a good performance on seed sowing quality and offspring seedling growth, so it could be used as good genetic resource.
