Effects of different planting densities on growth of young forest in Lithocarpus polystachyus
In order to find out the effect of planting density on growth characteristics and determine the optimal planting density in Lithocarpus polystachyus, artificial cultivation tests were carried out by setting six different densities. The results show that the growth indexes of experimental forest have a certain difference in one year after planting.Ground diameter, crown breadth, new shoot number, fresh leaf yield per plant and species leaf weight reach significant or extremely significant difference. There are not significantly differences among plant height, branch number, leaf areas and leaf SPAD value. The comprehensive growth index is the best in the experimental forest of 100 cm × 100 cm planting density. In the forest, the average ground diameter of plant is 13.42 mm,the average number of new branch is 51.07,the average crown is 64.89 cm × 63.67 cm,the mean fresh leaf yield of single plant is 200 g,and the mean species leaf weight reaches (109.18±0.19) g/m2.
