Responses of seed germination in Lycium ruthenicum to water and sodium salt stresses
In order to study the characteristics of seed germination in Lycium ruthenicum under different stresses conditions of water and sodium salt, germination status of L.ruthenicum seed was studied under different conditions of osmotic potential and sodium salt solutions (NaCl,Na2SO4,NaHCO3,composite alkali salt),through simulating osmotic potential and anion combination of sulfate salinization soil solution. The results showed that germination rate, germination energy, germination index and drought resistance index of germination were reduced with the osmotic potential of PEG solution dropping, and the optimal, critical, and limiting values of solution osmotic potential were-0.24,-0.97 and-1.69 MPa respectively. So seed germination could been delayed and depressed by water stress.Except lower concentration of Na2SO4 solution (0.2%-0.4%),seed germination rate, germination energy and germination index were significantly reduced with concentration rising of NaCl,Na2SO4 and NaHCO3 solutions. But solution concentrations and reducing ranges the values were different. The changes of seed germination rate, germination energy and germination index appeared ‘S’ type in composite sodium salt solution treatments, and the optimized, critical and limiting valuesof solutions were 0.18%,1.42% and 2.66%,respectively.Different salt composition had different effects on seed germination. The sodium salts were NaHCO3,NaCl,Composite salt,Na2SO4,respectively,based on salt injury rates of seed germination from high to low, under the same concentrations of sodium salts solutions.
