The Intensity and Structure of R&D Investment and the Evolution of Regional Innovation Pattern
With our country having entered the new stage of building a socialist modernization country in an all-round way,the internal demand for self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology at high lev-els is becoming increasingly prominent which constantly reshaping the regional innovation pattern.Based on the provincial panel data, using the systematic GMM estimation method, from the perspective of the relative difference between scale and structure two-dimensional space, the paper explores the dynamic impact of the relative intensi-ty of R&D investment and the change of structure on regional innovation performance, and then grasps the internal mechanism of the evolution of regional innovation pattern. The results show that:The relative intensity of R&D and the change of structure have significant effects on regional innovation performance;By region, the influence of R&D relative intensity and structure change on innovation performance in the eastern and western regions is signif-icantly different from that in the central region. Therefore, different types of regions should fully understand the dif-ferential impact of the relative intensity of innovation input and the dynamic evolution of its structure,so as to im-prove the precision and targeted development of regional science and technology policies.
