Measurement,Source Decomposition and Formation Mechanism of Differences in the Development Quality of Urban Agglomerations in China
Based on the evaluation logic of combining overall improvement and internal synergy, this paper utilizes the entropy method to evaluate the development quality of China's 10 urban agglomerations from 2006 to 2019.Utilizing the Dagum Gini coefficient and variance decomposition method to analyze the size and source of the differences in development quality from both spatial and structural angles.Besides, the formation mechanism of the differences in development quality is investigated empirically through the quadratic assignment procedure. The research findings reveal that the development quality of China's ur-ban agglomerations demonstrates a consistent upward trend, exhibiting a distinct"center-periphery"spa-tial pattern. Moreover, spatial differences show a trend of slowly rising in high and low fluctuations, and the differences between clusters serve as the primary spatial sources of development quality differences in China's urban agglomerations.Notably,innovation-driven differences,inter-city synergy differences, and people's livelihood-sharing differences emerge as the main structural sources contributing to variations in the development quality of China's urban agglomerations, and the combined contribution rate of the three exceeds 70%.Furthermore,the expansion of the development quality differences in China's urban agglomerations is positively impacted by innovation-driven,inter-city synergy, people's livelihood-sha-ring,economic operation, coordinated development and green transformation, with the influence of each factor gradually waning in that order.
