The Influence of Farmland Capital Endowment on Non-farm Entrepreneurial Behavior of Rural Households——An Analysis of"Land Stickiness"and"Capital Incentive"Effects
This paper constructs an influence mechanism of farmland capital endowment on rural households'non-farm entrepreneurship from the perspective of farmers'optimal labor supply. It proposes two impact paths, namely"land stickiness"and"capital incentive",and empirically tests them by using data from the China Household Finance Survey(CHFS).The results show that:(1)Owning land cap-ital increases the likelihood of households engaging in non-farm entrepreneurship by 1.31%.(2)The size and value of land capital both have a significant"U-shaped"effect on non-farm entrepreneurship of ru-ral households.(3)There are two impact paths of land capital size on non-farm entrepreneurial behavior of rural households, mainly presented as"land stickiness"and"capital incentive".When the size of land capital is low,it primarily shows a"land stickiness"effect, where an increase in land capital size suppres-ses the non-farm entrepreneurial behavior of households. However, when the land capital size reaches a critical value(9.33 mu,approximately 6220 m2),it mainly exhibits a"capital incentive"effect, where an increase in land capital size promotes the non-farm entrepreneurial behavior of households.
