The Impact of Digital Economy on Equalization of Basic Public Services and its Mechanism
The deep integration of the digital economy into the public service system has an important impact on the equality of basic public services.Based on the provincial panel data from 2011 to 2020 in China,this paper empirically analyzes the impact and mechanism of digital economy on the equalization of basic public services.The research shows that digital economy can significantly improve the level of equal-ization of basic public services,and administrative cost is the intermediary path for digital economy to play a positive effect on equalization of basic public services.Further research finds that urbanization has a neg-ative regulating effect on the equalization of basic public services enabled by the digital economy.Taking urbanization as a threshold variable,the threshold effect analysis found that the promoting effect of digital economy on the equalization of basic public services showed a marginal decreasing trend.With the ad-vancement of urbanization,the positive effect of digital economy on the equalization of basic public services gradually weakened,and when the urbanization level crossed the second threshold,the digital economy would reduce the equalization level of basic public services.In addition,heterogeneity analysis shows that the impact of digital economy on the equalization of basic public services shows a marginal decreasing trend in the central-western-eastern regions,and is more significant after the implementation of the"Broadband China"strategy.This paper provides theoretical support and practical basis for enabling the equalization of public services in digital economy,optimizing the construction of digital government and promoting the e-qualization of basic public services.
