The Spatiotemporal Pattern and Evolutionary Law of Provincial Tourism Industry Competitiveness in China
Based on the strategic framework outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan for the tourism indus-try,this research constructs an evaluative system for measuring industry competitiveness centered around two pivotal dimensions:the tourism sector's foundational development and growth potential.Employing hori-zontal and vertical analytical perspectives,the study methodically examines the spatiotemporal dynamics and the evolutionary trends of provincial tourism industry competitiveness during the 13th Five-Year Plan.The results reveal(1)During the 13th Five-Year Plan,provincial tourism industry competitiveness ex-hibited significant spatial disparities,characterized by four distinct development trajectories in terms of foundational growth and potential:high-increase,high-decrease,low-increase,and low-decrease.(2)Spatially,the competitiveness of China's regional tourism industry continues to demonstrate a marked polarization,deviating from the typical east-to-central-western inland gradient decline observed in general industrial competitiveness.(3)Over time,the regional tourism industry's competitiveness across China has shown notable fluctuations,with regions of higher competitiveness experiencing less volatility than their less competitive counterparts.The study advocates for a comprehensive approach in regional industry de-velopment that at the micro level,it calls for a dual strategy of addressing deficiencies while reinforcing ex-isting strengths to solidify the industry's foundation.At the meso level,it emphasizes the need for adaptive adjustments in alignment with industry trends,advocating for sustainable development and the cultivation of new drivers of industry growth.At the macro level,it recommends intensifying supply-side structural reforms to invigorate market dynamism and elevate the overall quality of industry development.
