Research on the Impact of Digital China Construction on Chinese Path to Modernization
The construction of digital China is an important strategic initiative proposed by the Chi-nese government in terms of data resources,digital infrastructure and digital technology applications,which can effectively promote economic and social development,as well as to promote the process of Chi-nese modernization.Based on theoretical analysis,this paper uses panel data of 284 prefecture level and above cities in China from 2016 to 2022 to investigate the impact of digital China construction on Chinese modernization and its mechanism.The research finds that the construction of digital China can significantly improve the level of Chinese modernization,and this conclusion is still valid after the parallel trend test,robustness test and endoge-nous test.The mechanism test results show that the construction of digital China can drive Chinese mod-ernization by promoting the equalization of public services,upgrading the industrial structure and impro-ving the efficiency of resource allocation.The heterogeneity analysis results show that the construction of digital China plays a more significant role in promoting Chinese-style modernization of cities in the eastern region,third-tier and above cities,and cities with higher economic development levels.In this regard,It is proposed to establish a governance mechanism for digitalization development,optimize the supply of basic public services,comprehensively promote the upgrading of industrial structure,and improve the effi-ciency of factor resource allocation.Therefore,providing a solid theoretical foundation for rationally ad-vancing the construction of digital China and Chinese path to modernization.
