Big Data System Construction and Common Prosperity:A Quasi-natural Experiment Based on the National Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone
The development of China's digital economy has taken the lead in the world. This paper first analyzes the mechanisms of the construction of big data systems on common prosperity. Then, based on panel data from 284 prefecture-level cities from 2013 to 2020,this paper constructs indicators of com-mon prosperity and empirically tests the impact of big data system construction on common prosperity by utilizing the quasi-natural experiments provided by the construction of the national big data comprehensive pilot zone The research results indicate that during the sample period, the construction of big data systems has not yet played a promoting role in promoting common prosperity, which means it is in the stage of"leading ahead".After undergoing a series of robustness tests the conclusion still holds. The moderation effect test shows that the improvement of material capital and human capital helps to accelerate the positive effect of big data system construction on common prosperity.Extensive analysis shows that the construction of big data systems has reduced the share of labor income in enterprises, and widened the gap in labor in-come.The construction of a big data system is a farsighted and strategic policy. Before the digital divi-dend brought by the big data system benefits all people, preparations need to be made in areas such as anti-monopoly,material and human capital accumulation, and coordinated regional development.
